Ive been listening to the scanner app, LA county fire and its absolutley crazy.

My brother has a house in Beverly Grove, just a few miles from the fires. They bailed. Took the dogs and headed south.

The first Superintendent I worked for was on a fire that started near Pacific Palisades in 1977 - burned 275,000 acres and over 600 homes, eight fatalities including two firefighters that got trapped on a dead-end street.

It looks like it’s wild. I’ve never fought fire in SoCal. But I would have to think those Santa Ana winds would be like a column collapsing on itself for hours on end. Just tons of cold, dry air coming as strong easterlies out of the Great Basin.

this has to be hands down the most intense traffic i have ever listened to, its so sad, every few minutes another structure goes up in flames, crews dispatched to fires with no water, spot fires popping up everywhere, heard a guy say a 20 acre spot will probably be 1,000 acres in a half hour.

I hate to be a conspiracy type, but it seems like california is under attack.

We did some indoor jaws training tonight. We have a gas power unit, so we set that outside and ran the hoses under the garage door. We took turns playing “Jenga” with the cribbing blocks, and then also everyone got a chance to try grabbing an egg and moving it from 1 traffic cone to another, about 12 feet away. It was fun. And everyone got involved. A lot of eggs didn’t make it, but a few survived!

Everyone here is going battery power with extrication equipment. I ran into the station tonight for a service call and noticed a shiny new battery Stihl chainsaw on the back table ready to be put in service. The winds of change.
