How could anyone not like that.

The ones that don't like it have never picked one up.

Corey now that you've run a 421 do you think its possible for a MS 241 to be $250 better? I have never run a 241 but I just don't believe you're gonna get $250 better performance if any at all.

And you make a living with a saw. That says a lot.

The only real world benefits I see the 241 has is
1: resale value.
2: if you have only stihl then continuity between saws.
3: a bit lighter. But for $250 dollars I would get my 192 back if I wanted lighter.
The 421 is heavier but feels like a solid steel bar heavy. It just feels solid in your hand, which I prefer in my saws. And once in a cut it is so smooth and and well behaved it is very comfortable.
It is smoother then the 192.
I like stihl but seems like their newer models feel toyish to me. Which I know is part of the weight savings.

As to your #3, from what I have seen, the 421 is actually lighter than the 241 in ready to cut fashion, but not by much. Can't remember where I saw that comparison.

There is a 3 pound difference between the 192 and the 421 however in use the 421 does not seem much heavier. So I am a poor judge of weight. However vibration and smoothness I am very sensitive to. So that is an area I pay close attention to. The 421 feels like a small 6100 but not quite as refined.

I wonder how a 15-16" bar equipped 421 would compared fully fueled and ready compared to a 16" bar equipped 550xp that's also ready.

I probably would not be able to tell a weight difference. Lol
However I would have a hard time throwing a 550 on the 4 wheeler or in the trailer. I would want to keep it all shinny and Purdy. Just like a pair of Reebok PUMPS from 1988

I was coming from the perspective of a 550xp owner as to whether or not it would be worth picking up. It looks and sounds like a fantastic saw but with a MS261, MMWS 346xp nd stock 550xp in the barn, I don't think it would buy me anything... Either way, it looks like a darn fine saw and pull VERY well for a 40cc saw!

I think if you wanted a solid performing truck/ tractor saw it would be a great choice.. a saw that just kind of always rides along to tackle what comes up. At least that is my purpose for it. If I had any of the sawsaw you mentioned they would be on a shelf until I had a job for them. Except maybe the 261. I wouldn't feel bad about getting it all grimy and tore up. Lol

They all live in the barn and are taken care of, but I'm no PSP... The 550 is a recent acquisition so I don't have a lot of time with it. The 261 has been and will continue to be thoroughly used. The 346 is new to Dad and I but it has a bit of use. I'm still dealing with some weirdness with it, but it's a little animal.
