Just a crazy thought..... what about blanking of the strato port (on a 372) with a home made gasket?!! I have done the usual basic mod-fixes,ie gutted the intake and tapered the intake to favour it but every time I look at the thing I keep wondering why can't one just blank off the fresh air port! Just a crazy thought like I said. I figure if I replaced the gutted intake with original it would work but perhaps I am barking at the moon. What are your thoughts? Thanks.

I say go for it, never know til you try. I’ve been down the XT road, ran good after all mods were done. Never thought to completely close the strato off.

I think you will have less air in the cylinder if you block it off, so the gains after
the rest of your work will probably help the situation, but you wont know until
you try,, I would say unless you fill the strato port, and smooth it as it meets the
cylinder internal wall, it would be hard to tell if the port was causing some sort
of issue, like an expansion chamber is not something you want to have, whats
going to fill it, your gasses, I have no idea, I suppose you would have to do it
to know for sure.

The intake side of your piston limits the width of the intake port. This would be like getting 30cc power from a 70cc saw.
I’d go the other way and try to get as much air in as possible.

I may be wrong the way I'm seeing it but wouldn't that mean less air at the combustion chamber and you would have to lean the carb out to condensate that?

I was thinking along those lines

That’s pretty much what I did with mine. Ran good

Yep, I played around with this idea once. I found out the best power came from getting the most AIR I could in the cylinder. Getting extra fuel in is easy, just turn the high speed needle.

Thanks for your responses... my thoughts were more to do with p+c longevity than power increase. . . Just going to stick a meteor xp kit on it and convert to a proper 372!
While you're here ,my model is a 2018 so does this mean it's got steel caged bearings rather than nylon caged ones? or is this just a rumour? It has had very little use but if it has nylon ones I would prefer to swap them out when I get round to sticking a proper top end on it ,what I don't want is to split the case I find out I had no need . Thanks again for your input.

If you look on eBay you can find OEM 372 kits cheaper than you can find a meteor.

Possibly not in the UK, I suppose
