Got a feeling my saws will be out and about this weekend -- had a front come through where it went from 60's / 70's temps here in Mass back to winter. Forecast low for Saturday is 11 w/ high of only 22.

Already a friend in town had a decent sized hemlock succumb to the wind.

Last time it was an 80+ year old ash tree that was really nice. Too bad this one isn't hard wood.
We can probably split and burn it in our maple sugaring boiler. hemlock seems to pop and crackle like crazy but we nomally burn white pine the boiler has no problem w/ it and it burns hot. Not sure how hemlock will fare.

We'll see what we get. Might have to test drive that 51 / 55 that we just put together at Dan's.

Yeah it's plenty windy here as well. One of the neighbors trees went down. 20" red oak. Too bad he's an *a-hole, so no chance of me getting that haha

I have the same problem with a few of my neighbors. They will look you dead in the face when you speak and not say a word.

Or during burning season when your fire is still smoldering the tiniest bit at the end of the day, and at 4:01 he calls the fire department and they show up.

I wish some of you guys on this site were my neighbors. Best group of guys who can help a fella when he's down are right here! By helping these folks with this tree I'm putting some in for pay it forward. Going to try and grab the truck and chipper to boot so I can get rid of all of the brush, the top of the tree, and then use the dumptruck to haul the rounds to our sugarbush. If we don't burn it in the boiler we can burn it a the firepit next campout!

I'm the same way I just help for something to do. Even at work I help the guys working under me which everyone hates. They have the mentality we already moved beyond that so we shouldn't help them. Just lazy

Everyone of my neighbors have always helped each other it's just what you do but a derecho wind storm hit several years ago i helped my friend cut his way out of his road he had been stuck for two days i cut a bunch of pine and he stacked it one of his neighbors and teen son pulled up behind him and waited for an hour or so never offered to help my truck was on the entrance side of the one way in out road my friends truck was behind the mess so i told him to get his truck out as fast as possible when i cut a spot for him as soon as he made it i dropped a 28 inch hanging pine that was above the road and blocked the road that guy was pissed lol i told him i was out of gas and left.

That cold front and high wind swept through CNY too.... I had to push a few trees out of roads with the loader at work the other night. And then the snow hit early morning and we had to jump into the plow trucks.
