Champion sucks? Wear did you read this?Is this your own personal experience or just word of mouth? Many saw come with Champion plugs installed. This is a fact.NGK is better? Show me some documentation to back up this statement! I have used Champion plugs is all of my saws, mowers, and weed eaters. Never had a plug related issue.

Stihl USA VB that built saws used Champion a lot .

Anyone switch off the lights to see the spark when setting the gap? Like Terry mentions a file squaring up removing round edges is a good idea. A service of the entire ignition system is needed on occaision to get best spark. Check lead, boot, set coil gap and clean up magnets on flywheel.

I used bosh when they where made in Germany. When they started coming from India and Brazil i quit using them and went with NGK. Didn't have any of the few i used fail, just bothered by the switch of country of origin for what i assumed to be cheaper made. Also have used NGK in the quads ever since I can remember and never had issues so it was another reason for going with NGK.

I've had two Bosch and one Champ do that.

In their defense, they were really, really old and lots of hours.

I have one or three Remington saws with their original plug. (You can tell buy the paint overspray.)
That plug only had a couple thousand miles on it.

put a set of ngk v power nickel plugs in my f150 and they made a big difference over the old stock replacement motorcrafts with 30,000 miles on them
the old plugs looked fine but didn't run right.

Autolite should be fine , they just aren't a common plug you see in stores and are often overlooked because of the brand being somewhat unknown .
Any place marked were they were made ? , usually on the base of the plug is most reliable .

Looks like Bosch is being made in several countries , I know I saw China on the base of some this past winter , I was sort of shocked and disappointed all at the same time .

I used to run Bosch, never had a problem with them. Didn't pay attention to where they were made, I assumed Germany but maybe some place else. Switched to NGK about a year ago and have been real happy with them too. Don't see a reason why I should switch. Now if I got a bad batch of plugs (not just 1 and I don't care what its name) I'll be lookin' elsewhere

The plug itself is not stamped. The box says "made in Mexico designed in USA" LOL. whatever that means... who knows maybe just the box is made in Mexico and the plug? You never know anymore.
Autolite is also about 1/4" taller than NGK which may be an issueView attachment 27040View attachment 27039

Had a Champion (brand new) drop an electrode and toast a fresh rebuilt 3.8 Buick. You don't get 3 strikes here, no Champions to be found in my cylinders, 2 or 4 stroke.

NGK or Bosch whichever is availablr when needed in 2 strokers, AC in 4s.

My father, God rest his soul, put AC in GM and Champions in everything else.
Was a service tech at a couple Olds dealers in the '50's. Had a collection of 'didn't work for chit' plugs out of customer's cars.

As I said in an earlier post they used to be made in Fostoria Ohio. That plant is just a distribution center now. The old guy that was driving me said they did a lot of " house brand" plugs. They were owned by Ford at one time and were standard factory. They are now owned by the same group that owns Fram.

I tried Splitfire in bikes and quads back when they were the big new thing. They fouled way easier than the NGK ev's I always ran. Tried ND's a few times, same experience. I stayed with NGK after that.

Sorta feel like the Ngk start things faster like a hotter plug out of the box. I don't bother gaping plugs unless I feel the absolute need to do so... Only failures , total reject I ever had was Ngk
Burnt the end off completely the electrode had nothing to fire against. That was in a suzuki 4 stroke 70 hp outboard. The plug was not very old.
That being said I still believe they make the best plug

Interesting thread......I "was" always a Bosch fan and I'll tell you why since nobody else seem to be backing up why they like one or the other much. A one time failure isn't fair with plugs in my opinion.

Before the recent switch to Chinese manufatured Bosch plugs, I had always noticed that if you "air test" a Bosch plug compared to an NGK, the spark was "fatter"....In the science of it all, I don't know if that's actually better, but in my mind it was and I have alway had great success with the Bosch plugs.....I've noticed that since the switch to China for the Bosch product, their spark is "skinny" just like an NGK.

My distributor carries Bosch, NGK and the Oregon plugs.....I've continued to buy the Bosch with zero running issues from cutomers, but I'm tempted to try the Oregon plugs. If anyone has feedback on them, I would love to hear it.
