It wouldn't fit with the basket I should say, I would use it but it won't work.

I dunno if there's any truth to it, but they say you need to keep the parts off the bottom. Otherwise the transducer life will be shorter.

I believe you are correct ...that was in the manual that came with mine.

It probably is true, I doubt one plastic crankcase is going to kill it though. On all small parts I use the basket. I even have a smaller basket from a previous unit that died for when I don't have alot of parts to wash.
