One possibility is that this early MS 440 got a warranty cylinder replacement early on when the replacement cylinders in stock for warranty purposes from Stihl were the original oh 44 slant fin jugs left over from early production
Does it have a 10 mm crank

Its got one of them modernized, new fan dangled caps that just came out and all.
I done heerd about them new caps muhself.
