For those that like the Red Armor but don't like the price, you may check out the Echo Powerblend. It is a FD rated oil that turns your mix blue.

I was running Red Armor for a while and got tired of the price. Someone on here recommended the Powerblend and I tried it. I like it and see no reason to change at this point.

I found a one gallon jug of it for about $80 USD, a couple of summers ago.
I split the cost and oil with a couple of neighbors.
Much better way to get it if you can still find it in the 128oz jug.
Kind of a pain to search for a gallon of the oil because all the search results want to pull up those tiny, one-shot 1 gallon mix, mini bottles.

Shows as Out of stock, but Wally world had it listed for $75 USD here.

I run all my equip on 3.5 oz oil to a gallon of non-ethanol fuel.
This Echo pb-500 blower has probably 20~25 hours on it since these pics were taken, so a bit early to call it for wear.

The carb is that funny air valve unit and the mid-range is pretty rich when you set the top speed rich enough to not run lean.
I always let the blower run at idle for a couple of minutes after a full throttle run.
The cylinder has been wiped dry, but the oil in the bottom end is just how it looked when I first pulled the cylinder.

It has three reed valves (case induction for air/fuel and strait air injection to the transfer reeds), so it was kind of an odd duck for Echo to make.

The insides looked to be a bit cleaner that when I first got the blower (used) from someone at a yard sale.
I have no knowledge of what oil-fuel was run in it from new.

After this tear down:
I put a fresh ring in it (original one was a bit rough looking).
Also massaged the ports lightly and omitted the base gasket.
Other than a peek down the spark plug hole, I haven't looked inside of it since then.

I just switched from echo powerblend gold 50 to 1 to red armor @40 to 1 because it is so well liked on another sight (AS). Lots of people on there reccomend it highly.

After tax and shipping? I could have got it for less by just driving 20min to the store, but last time I called ahead, and they said they had none and couldn't get any even though one or 2 were listed on ebay with fees and all. I assumed they were holding that stock for their ebay listing. This time around I just ordered the last 2 cases listed, and it was still a good enough deal. Now that I have a stockpile, I'll try to skip the $20+ shipping per case, and try to talk them out of any ebay stock in person. I might have got it for $0.48/oz at best, but rounding ounces, dollars, and cents, it was $0.50. In person I might be able to get it for under 40 cents/oz.

I've used Red Armor for a few months now. I like it, saws seem to start easier. The big problem up here in Ontario is they only sell the 200ml or 100ml bottles, they have 1L bottles but you have to buy a pack of 12. No idea why my dealer can't get me a couple 1L bottles.

I bought 4 gallons or echo when I couldn't find schaefers. Total was alittle more than $250, so about $63 a gallon.

Right after I bought it I came across some schaefers on ebay like I didn't spend like two days hunting for it......

I know people like to use Schaeffer's 7000 for water cooled 2-strokes, but I use the 9000 and get it from amazon.

I have some amsoil Sabre & someone gave me a six pack of red armor 2 cycle oil so I have been mixing 1/2 of each in my 40:1 e free high test 91 octane gas. Anyone thinks that’s a bad idea? I’m just trying to use it up. Thanks.

I've always wondered if oil additives can fight each other. I figure probably not in most cases.

You should go on the forum, Bobistheoilguy.com. There are guys on there who have no training in anything, but they are all expert on all things related to oil and lubricants. Just ask them - they'll tell you they are. :p

Man, I need bigger saws. My tiny little Husky hardly puts out enough exhaust to notice the smell. Maybe I need a 3120... that should handle my Christmas trees, right?
