I stopped to take this pic & owner pulled in. He said he found it cleaning out his FIL shed.

That is a shame. What a cool wall hanger if it was polished up.

Drivers are outside a solid bar with no groove?

I thought I've seen it called "scratcher" chain.

Scratcher is the design of the tooth, which that is. There's also scratcher chain where the drive links are in a groove in the bar like normal chain. The straddle name comes from the drive links 'straddling' the bar.

I guess that stuff would be straddle/scratcher?

Can't get anyone around here to quit calling modern ones 'BLADES'. What chance have I got of getting them to call it that?

It's really a shame going back and looking at it again it's been outside a while. The bar and chain are already ruined. The rest if the saw is sure to follow. Makes a man wish there was a chainsaw protection agency cause it certainly needs to be rescued. I most certainly would never use a saw like that one but it deserves better than that, even if it was under a pile of junk in a barn it would be better than outside to the elements. Oh well that's just one man's opinion.
