Almost an accident

A couple months ago I bought a NIB Makita 7301 from @Johnmn that he bought new from @AlfA01 in olive land. John had the saw a few months, never started it and put it up for sale. I bought it, never started it and when Carl, @Miller Mod Saws, had an opening I sent it to him for porting. A couple days after he got it I got a message from Carl “Call me.” Never good from someone working on anything of yours. Carl found that it was a Friday cylinder, whoever drilled the decomp hole used a bad drill bit or it went bad breaking thru into the cylinder bore. It pushed, instead of cut off, apiece of cylinder wall down so that when the piston was coming to the top it hit the bulge of metal. Thanks to Carl being observant he caught it, ground out the defect and shortly I will have my 2nd ported saw from Carl. Even new isn’t a guarantee. Thanks Carl.

That's sad but glad it was cought before major damage happened. I still badly want a solo or dolmar/Makita on there cherries. They sure are a nice set up. I still can't believe @Deets066 665. That *b-word is super spicy
