Does anyone know if you can add a spencer release nail to a regular loop end without requiring their proprietary rivet tool?

Which I guess doesn’t answer your question at all. I know nothing about the hooks.

Right, but my tape just has the loop end. So I guess I lose the swivel unless I re-rivet it?

Ok, now I'm remembering. I knocked the rivets out with a punch and reinstalled them. I used a center punch to flare them out and then knocked them flat with a larger punch.

You'll want to so this anyway because you want to cut off a little tape and drill new holes as the swivel adds around 1" to the tape.

Thank you for taking the time to write such a clear explanation!

I'll order that hook and try it.
