My 385 laid down on me a few months ago due to rod needle bearing failure. (I posted the damage in previous thread)
I thought it might be over and would need a new cylinder. I took it to Mike (aka Rattler) this past Saturday and ck it out now. Unreal what the right person can do with the right tools. I am just a saw hack that bolts them together but i cannot do what you machinist can do. Some very tallented people here on OPE. I am impressed to say the least and glad the 385 will live to saw another day. Thanks Mike!!

The squish band is the only thing that got damaged except a tiny spot on the intake.

That turned out to be a blessing in disguise. Now all you need to do is raise the ports and you'll have one of the strongest 385's around.
Thats right. It should have great compression. It was already a strong saw so i am looking forward to seeing it now.
