After waiting a year I finally got some Husqvarna new sp33g .325 narrow kerf Chain. I want to put it up against some 95vpx and 95txl. Thought about putting together a test pack for guys who would like to help.
I can't wait to try these out.

I would be willing to try a loop on the 242 against the new Oregon speed cut and the husky h30 chain. (I may have my number wrong. Could be h23)

I could use some new chain for 0.325 NK, more than willing to give it a whirl. Been running H30. I use 72dl.

What are the visual differences? I note the different raker design, but what about the cutter? Is the corner a tighter bend than the VP95, similar to the Carlton/Woodland Pro NK chain?

The VP95/x chain has the same corner as a standard .325 Oregon chain. I always thought they could have tightened it up like the Carlton chain.

Subscribed.

Look forward to hearing how much is performance and how much is marketing.

I have always been happy with the Oregon and Carlton NK chains, so if these cut better, or hold up longer, that's great.

Thanks Corey!

Well I did cut with it a small bit tonight. Not enough to pass judgment. But it does feel a solid performer. From the couple of cookies and various cuts. I am excited to put it to work.
The cutter is longer and the it does seem to be a tighter bend on the inside of the cutter. Making the top plat angle look longer? I will try and get some photos. I am also uploading a vid tonight that should be up in the am.

I will also be messaging those who say they are interested in some. If I miss you please message me.

Corey, if you have more chain you'd like to send out for a test, I have a new Speedcut bar and two new 95TXL chains I can compare it to. I don't have any 95VPX for comparison, though.

Wow, it is a tighter bend. If you can get a picture of a cutter from a VP/X 95 chain for comparison, others not familiar with NK chain will quickly see the difference.

I also like the raker. It has a steep slope to it so that in softer wood the raker will sink a bit more into the wood and the chain can take a bigger bite.

Hopefully, the metallurgy will be good. The last batch of VPX I got was shocking, the chrome was thin and wanted to peel away. Saw chain is being made in so many different countries/factories that it is becoming difficult to rely on previous performance.

It looks like it could use the Husky roller guide kit to sharpen it, that would be an advantage.

They made a lot just for the 33. They sent me 2 kits with the chain. I will be keeping one. Lol will grab some vpx side by side in one min

It would be instructive to see what the cutting angles were for the raker plate. The VP95 raker plate had a 4.2 degree angle for the hardwood setting and a 5.7 degree angle for the softwood setting. That 'softwood' setting is near ideal for use on the bigger saws (60cc+).

The cutter looks similar to a Carlton NK chain. It even looks like they copied the thinning of the cutter out to the outer edge, not as pronounced as the Carlton, but it does appear to be a bit thinner.

Use this trig calculator, it makes it easy. http://www.pagetutor.com/trigcalc/trig.html

Measure the raker depth and put that in 'A'
Measure the gullet length and put that in 'C'
Hit calculate
Read the cutting angle in 'X'

The gullet length is measured from the tip of the cutter to the CONTACT point with the wood on the raker. Note I mention CONTACT point. If you file the raker flat the contact point will be at the front of the raker. If the raker is sloped back, then the contact point is at the back of the cutter. Just lay a flat edge across the tip of the cutter to the raker, you'll see where the contact point is.

I'll bet the factory cutting angle is less than 4 degrees so that the chain can be used on small saws. If you want a NK chain to eat some wood on a bigger saw, you want around 6 degrees of cutting angle.
