i put some more sample tops on the bay. gonna move these along, improve the design, and get more up. likely there will be a price increase as the iterations get better.

These are just the initial samples / prototypes. Ebay only allowed me to list a few...

The material for the prototypes is listed. Pretty confident that reinforced nylon will be way stronger than the oem. Made right here in usa too.

High top elbows are coming etc. Patience folks ...patience
Consider 266 se and xp top covers in the future.

Thats next. problem is i've literally spent my life savings getting this mould made. since i've had so few people buy so far.... uh... 266 is a bit off yet.

was hoping to have a better response than this. i'm gonna have a few hundred 288 tops produced with some improvements and see how they sell. if I can get my money back then I can move on to other cool stuff. if not, i'm screwed and no 266 etc. lol . oh well

I think the hi tops you made look great
Just get the word out on them
I'm just not a hi top fan.
And I had a couple factory top covers that has the decomp hole slightly off
It's no big deal.

The air horn adapter should really move them as a kit I would think
There's a lot of 281/288s fans out there.

Does the 288 not have a high top edition?

I will say that the 3120 needs a high top kit with a new type of filter similar to the 395. I’d buy one for sure!

288 does have a high top but it hasn't been produced in years. I decided to reproduce it because folks have been clamoring for it...and nobody else seemed to want to take the plunge.

I can do all kinds of cool stuff going forward...but only of this project ends up being successful.

Right now I'm waiting on a few things... gonna be within 2 weeks to have version 2 of the tops. Once those get moving I can start investing in other projects.

Just curious, why is shipping $22? I really wanna get one, but forking out ~$100 for a "looks cool" part is a hard pill to swallow.

I'm still working out the kinks. 22 covers large flat rate priority box. I dont have to weigh it..and I can stick 3 covers in there for folks that buy 3. I dont often have time to physically go to ups....so usps is just easier for me to use and get packages out faster.

Not sure I follow you on the "looks cool" comment though. Can u elaborate?

Well. the 3120K cut off saw may have what you need.

If I get one, it will be to make the saw look cooler and keep rain off of the green weenie, it's not a part I need per se.

Some folks like the low top look better. High top filters have advantages though....and over the last 10+ years anything resembling a high high top has been regarded as a unicorn. Expensive pieces even in rough used shape. Far as I know none have ever been made in usa either.
These tops are brandy new....made in usa ...handle both types of high top filters ...and are stronger than the oem tops ever were. Lots of advantages beyond looking cool.

Might help you to get a scale and just send them out at a competitive rate. Hell, you wouldn't even need the scale if you were just selling covers. They all weigh the same. Just do some multiplication.

Should cost about $4-5 anywhere in the US in a bubble mailer first class. One cover is certainly under 16oz.

Anything over 16oz would go Priority and ship for $8-11 anywhere in the US. Would be the same on up to about 5lb.

If you're gonna be asking a hefty price for the cover you may want to figure out a system so you don't hit people over the head on shipping.

@Woodslasher has an incredibly valid point.
$22 would scare a lot of folks off.

Think about getting the shipping right, it'll help you get a return on your investment.
