B1BB3A6C-B004-45B0-8E86-0FB47126A23D.jpeg Looking to jump from our 65” to an 85” tv for the family room. Football is the primary reason, watched on Sunday’s. Only interested in top brands, Sony (current 65), Samsung or LG 80+, what do you guys recommend? Oled, Nano led, 8k? Budget is 5k.

$5k? For a TV? Is that what they cost these days? I have a 20 year old 46" plasma, is that even a thing anymore? Lol. I am out of touch I guess. Sorry I am no help, have a bump!

Well, considering a 7’ tv yeah, That's what the top brands run. A family friend paid 10k for a 47” outdoor tv. It looks amazing no matter the conditions outside. Football is life and the tv needs to suit that. The 65 will go in my bedroom so I can see the ticker without glasses.

Maybe this thread would get better options if I said a ported 85” screen? Lol, surely we have members that care about a quality screen like we do saw owners.

While many of us spend good money on quality tools, a TV is a luxury item, and to some of us, it gets turned on once a week. Now a ported tv is much more interesting, as long as it is the right color, and uses the best oil! Lol

I run four Samsungs here at the house and shop…an older 55” plasma, two 65” 4K’s, and a 43” 4K in the shop. 85’s are pricey, I’d go OLED no doubt.

I’m looking to spend that on a tv that’s on once a week during football season lol. It’s not a luxury to me. A ported 85 it is!

I have a 72” or 75” LG OLED, several 50 something Samsungs and a 45” Sony.
The LG is great for football and movies.
Samsung makes a nice TV as well. No complaints.

5-6 years ago I was tv shopping. Went to the local tv repair guy cause wanted to fix my Vizio. Anyway fixed my Vizio after dude told me what to do. Asked him who made the best tv. Told me Samsung was the best. I liked this info considering he worked on TVs. When the Vizio finally failed. I now have a Samsung. Time will tell.

that said I really like Vizio too. My tv is on more often than it’s off. I don’t watch it that often but I like background noise

I’m liking a few Samsungs, I need the big center pedestal vs the feet on the outside too. I’m going to stop by Costco this week and see what they have.

Costco had a sweet looking Samsung 85 for $2800. I wonder how much they might come down closer to Black Friday.

So you bought it? Or you were pissed they didn't have something at your price point? Or you want to wait a day after the Bills roll the Lions to get it cheaper? Or???

This feels facebooky.
