Kinda odd, bought her from a member here in utterly mint condition. I've got no spark. Is this a common problem with them and are the coils readily available?

Hope everyone is well.

I don’t think it is a common issue, but I have heard of it happening. My local dealer recently took delivery of a brand new 562 MKII that was DOA. Turned out the coil was bad. If it is the one I sold to you, I wonder if Bruce could help you out.

Recently had a no spark on the T540 which prior ran like a champ.
Very little wear on the NGK plug.
Checked all the usual suspects, connections, kill switch, boot, plug to boot seat, coil gap still no go.
I was thinking coil went bye bye.
Turned out to be a bad plug.
New plug sparked like crazy.
Old plug no go, no half or quarter spark.

This has me wondering if there is a self protect build in, too much resistance and autotune will shut off till replaced.

Could have been a bad lemon plug, or it could have fouled up to the point where AT did not like it.

That's not to say that on your 550 it could be something else.

I'll sneak a plug in her before I go the expensive route. Just figured I'd do some asking first.

I’ve just been watching this thread and a question comes to mind - with the Mark ll series saws do you still have to get a new coil flashed to match the carb?

I don’t believe it’s needed if you are replacing the coil with the exact same coil
