HELP! 500i

Put together cases today and it would not spin freely. Tapped on both clutch side and FW side with center punch and hammer to center and still hard to turn. Noticed crank looked wonky. Here is pic!

Clutch side bearing grenaded.

Crank bent. Don’t use it. It takes very little to irk one, less than you’d think. If you somehow get it to go in, it’ll really grenade. I’m speaking from experience, not with a 500i specifically, but with another.

Like I said, speaking from experience. I bent this crank installing a cylinder (short version). It failed the first time the saw was revved up. The metal from this contaminated the bearings, piston and case. Because I never considered that could happen, I reused the bearings on the next rebuild and metal from them migrated to the brand new piston and cylinder scratching them all to heck. Had to have gotten into the brand new crank too. The saw sits up in the attic for now. When I put it away I was just sick over it.

That does sound sickening. What was that crank from?

Definitely twisted crank. It can be trued but only with the proper tooling, i used to take my hot rodded 2100 husky cranks into the local dirt bike shop and they would true and weld the crank pin. Super solid then

It went in and turned ,but I could tell one lobe has spun. I am sending it to Shaun to see if he can true it.
