So I've got 2 or 3 Stihl 462C's laying here and all of them have a busted flywheel side case. I think I can possibly save one of them. Has anyone else had issues with the cases being pretty thin on the early 462??
The front AV mount area blew out on this one.
So my thought was to machine a small aluminum sleeve and epoxy it into place. I used an old Sachs dolmar AV mount I already had laying here to slide into the aluminum sleeve i made. So there is still some rubber to the setup. I'm not sure if it'll work or not but I know the case half for these saws are still pretty high dollar and I'm see a lot of them breaking. Maybe this will help someone down the road or maybe someone has come up with something better.
