They can be a *b-word to tune, close to the same sounds…mine is still sticks. Also just tune in the cut mostly
I find it easiest to tune from an overly rich condition and start leaning it out until it just cleans up in the cut and it will eliminate all that confused noise situation like you say.

Yep that’s excactly what I do, you can hear it in the cut, I wouldn’t try to tune one unless it was in the wood…
