372 $350

I’ve never owned a Husky, but y’all rant & rave about 372’s.

Other than the usual spotting Aftermarket, what should I be suspicious of on this one? Only 1 pic & the lister hasn’t texted me back.

Xtorq or oe? Decomp on top xtorq. Side is the oe.

Difference between OE & X-Torq?

X-Torq is the same displacement, but long story short it is a stratified cylinder and due to that there are differences in the piston, cylinder, crankcase, top cover, carb, intake, and wrap handle.

Easiest way to tell is compression release valve location. On the clutch side of the cylinder is OE. On top of the cylinder is the X-Torq

I can't zoom in on the pic enough to see if it say X-Torq on the badge

If the starter is original it is a X Torq. The OE turned more RPM, and the XT lugs a little better.

OE or XT, $350 isn't a bad price IMHO even if it needs a little work as long as you can do the work yourself. If you are not so inclined, shop labor could turn it into a not so great deal.

Oh I’m definitely the do it yourself type.

I normally don’t buy running saws... much prefer the sub-$100, “replace all things rubber” deals, but I’ve been wanting a Husky to see what all the fuss is about and use up my excess loctite.

If I can get the dude to text me back, maybe I can get more pics.

Looks to be an x-torque. You'll still like it.

It's worth 350 all day long. Parts saws sell for that on eBay.

I'm just like you, the trip is as good as the destination. I have come to love buying a sad old hulk that once was called a chainsaw and bringing it back to killin trees again. For myself, I've done a 359, a 394, and a 242. Currently gathering parts for a 288.

I'm far from what you would call "well read" in the world of Stihls, but I think you will find the 372 comparable to an 044/441. I would like to expand my horizons into the world of orange and white two-tone at some point in the not too distant future. Still trying to get my friend to let go of an 056 Mag II that hasn't been run in over a decade...

Beat to *s-word 372's sell like they're gold around here. I'd jump on a $350 372 in a second. No tax, no shipping. Just make sure it doesn't have a convenient scratch or two across the SN#...

For that price I'd be suspicious about the condition of the p&c and bearings. The sellers reaction to asking if you can pull the muffler is usually a good indicator.

Yeah. Says it’s in “nearly perfect condition,” but doesn’t have the original B&C?

He may have got it PHO or swapped the bar to something else. If they made me get a bar I ask for the smallest and cheapest.

Sold my OE to a tree service guy....
Wish I never did...

F-ing crack head ran 70:1 "Walmart oil" in it till it grenaded... Rebuilt it with another oem jug and meteor piston... Crack head split town and never paid me for it or the rest of his $2000 bill...

Although he did abandon a toasted and trashed 200t and a toasted 661 that a tree landed on at some point....

So not a "total" loss....
