I am tearing my dads 371xp that he bought new down to replace the clutch side case half because of a broke out bar stud and when I pulled the cylinder and was looking it over the chamber looked funny and after cleaning with some brake parts cleaner and a nylon bristle brush it looks like the squish band was never machined. At first I thought something got in there and beat it up but the piston looks perfect. I asked dad and he said this is the 1st time it’s ever been apart and like I said he bought it new. I’ve never seen anything like that before and I’ve looked at hundreds of cylinders over the years. Has anyone ever seen anything like that. Most cylinders look like that unless they are plated. The 5 series have a plated squish band and it’s a little bit flatter and smoother

That’s an OEM Mahle cylinder I’m used to seeing the squish band more like this other Mahle off a 372xp with the narrow machined squish band. image.jpg

Ok that’s interesting 90% of what I work on is Stihl or Echo with a few Huskies. Husqvarna is not real big in my area there hasn’t been a dealer where you could buy pro saws within 100 miles since 1998 the next town over has a place that claims to be a Husqvarna dealer but the only saws they stock are 2 & 4 series and they don’t have any parts except spark plugs, air filters, and bars & chains

Thanks like I was saying I don’t work on many Huskies I guess the 1 or 2 other 371/372s I been in were the oddities.
