365-372 x-torque flywheel

So..... Have a 372xt that I've had sitting in a box. Seems I robbed the flywheel for another. Now that I'm putting it back together I can't find another xt flywheel in my stash. I do have a couple oe flywheels. I know it will run with a oe, but will their be a problem because of it having less fins? It's for a personal saw so I can experiment and see if it gets hot or not. Just figured I'd see if anyone had already figured this one out.

I think the flywheel was updated due to the weight of the XT piston (more fins on the flywheel).

I think you'll be fine to run it with an OE flywheel. It shouldn't cause you any problems, at least until next summer.

Not quite. The xt has a bunch more fins on it. I think the oe has 7 between the weight and magnets. The xt has 10 or 11 if memory serves me correctly.

Never thought much about it until you just mentioned it. I built a oe a few years ago and used a xt flywheel. (Only one I had at the time) and it was unusually smooth.

Didn't even think about the weight being different between the two.

There are only 2 flywheels. 10 fin (5 on each side between the magnets) and 14 fin (7 on each side between the magnets). The 10 fin came on the very early 371/372’s. The 14 came on later OE’s, all xtorq’s and 385/390’s as well.

You could be right. I'm going off of memory. Wish I didn't have to send my 2166 back. I could have looked at it to get a 100% positive confirmation.
