346xp top end rebuild - wont start / not getting fuel

So many directions to go with this. Did you buy aftermarket or OEM parts from HL? I would definitely kit the carb. I would definitely pressure and vac test the assembly. If you're getting noises at the vent I would inspect that. Since you're just pumping fuel around in a circle I would not expect much pressure change in the tank.

I am one that doesn't pressure test unless i have a odd running issue. At this point a carb kit and cleaning will likely solve the issue. Also not every older saw needs bearings and seals. Some do but not all. Alot of saws i see are harry homeowner saws not commercial use. I would say 10% have bottom end issues and 8-9% is just seals.

Not sure if it's possible to get the gasket turned around on those or not.

This is a 346xp OE I pulled apart today... So yes it is possible to get the gasket turned around... This is the result. Yes, the transfers are blocked and the gasket somehow smashed around the cylinder & blocking the pulse port.

I have no idea how this thing even ran long enough to cook the top end??

Thanks everyone! Small update: after following all of your advice I took apart the carb and cleaned it out well. I think that little screen was clogged or something but now fuel runs through it and she starts right up !! I still need to see how well she runs being put to work assuming I can tune it correctly. I will be so pumped if all this needed was a top end rebuild and to have done it myself.
