Welp, the guy who I'm building this for may or may not chime in here... but ya'll know him :)

He sent me an oe 346xp that was trashed. I've taken the vid of the teardown, and I've decided to split the case too, because I noticed the main bearing has a nylon keeper... instead of metal. Spike60 is sending me the necessary oem parts.

Stay tuned for the vids... hopefully I can have the teardown vids up soon.

BUT ...... BUT BUT BUT.. .. noticed something interesting. I have a hyway 45mm cylinder, and a meteor piston. Put it on the saw, with the gasket, stock. The piston skirt HITS the chassis. Because its an oe? is the chassis SLIGHTLY smaller? Anyway, found this interesting. I will be putting the chassis on the bridgeport to deck it by .025. This will optimize squish. But I guess I also need to take the dremel to the crankcase to make a tiny bit of clearance for the piston. Again, stay tuned for the vid.

I had a couple of the OE cases that wouldn't quite clear a 45mm piston, but it was easily fixed as there were only two spots that needed touched up.

It's my understanding that the NE topend is a direct bolt-on replacement for OE cases....

Is it possible this clearance issue is due to it being a Meteor piston and possible slight differences it may have compared to OEM?? No offense intended toward Meteor, I love their pistons, just curious....

What year was your 346 oe made?
First model 1999 crankcase where # 503 85 69 71.
Second model 2001 crankcase where # 537 17 19 01.
Third model 2003 crankcase where # 537 17 19 03.

Not 100% but the main change was on s/n 03 05 00001, where 353 came if I got it correct.

Had a metal clamp...but likely whoever installed the clamp messed up the intake boot and ripped the impulse nipple causing an air leak which killed the saw.
