why does this screw rattle loose? If I were to bet I'd say it belongs to have a spring? Runs good wide open testing then obviously shuts off when you let off I finally figured out the vibration is loosening my screw.
Next question. If I remove the screw will the saw be fine to run ?
I'm waiting on ordering parts as my oiler needs to come apart also as I'm not getting enough flow.

Is the idle screw you are talking about? I have had them fall out when I have them too far out but if the carb is tuning right and the screw has the proper pressure on it from the spring then it usually stays in place.

Yeah the spring is gone. That's what I was asking, wheather or not it belonged to have a spring.

The spring is on the butterfly beside the screw I believe. not on the screw itself. I can't tell by your pic if it is missing or not.

It doesn't use a spring....It uses a little plastic ball that presses in a slot beside the threaded hole. That provides enough friction to keep in in adjustment.

But, because I'm a cheap bastard, I find the appropriate size of trimmer line and clip a tiny piece to go in that slot....Works great. :)

The ball is still in place in this one......

I'll have to drag it back out Tomarrow to see if I can get an eyeball on this So the plastic would go in the threaded hole after you pull the screw out or next to it ? I think I'll understand if I had the saw in hand. Another question for you jockey. I read somewhere that some of those saws have different seals for the oiler? Is this so? If so how can you tell which one you need?

The ball goes in beside the screw.....When you look at the threaded hole it looks like someone did a hack job of trying to drill out a broken screw....lol :)

As for the seal, you're talking about the crank seal in the pump???.....They never changed. 61, 266, 272, etc. all the same

I'm assuming there's an o ring or rubber seal under the oiler itself. I've not taken it apart as there's been other things goin Saw half assed oils. I'm planning on taking the oiler out to study what's in there if a flush with some gas doesn't get it straightened out.

Yes, there's a skinny o-ring on the back side of the pump as well....It's a Husqvarna only part.

Is it not oiling??

The two most common things for the oiler are a stripped plastic worm gear or the tiny set screw that locks the plunger gear to the plunger backs out and quite often falls right out.....See pic......

Could be a plugged suction line or something too, but my first two guesses are most likely and don't require pulling the pump

Worm gear turned but I also didn't pay a ton of attention to it. I do know for sure this saw say a long time not running. Just glancing though everything there seemed good. Not a fact but looked good. Also looked brass to me so that shows how much attention I payed.

Alright jockey got me on the right track. The ball was still there just worn or flat spotted I pulled it out. It hit the floor and is gone. I just laughed. I wedged a piece of fuel line down the hole. Carb holds a tune now. Thank you fellas. Oiler still a negative Saw is hot at the moment but I'm gonna bull the sprocket off and see what I've got from there

Yes, just the three allen head screws holding it on....The flat head is the oiler adjustment. Looks like it's only set on "1" right now

Was there a washer under the plastic gear??....There should be

Yes, three screws holding it in. The flat head screw is the adjustment for the amount of oil flow. The two small indentations in the case is where you can put a screwdriver in to get it to come loose. There is an O ring in there as well as a small rubber seal where the oil flow goes to the bar, let alone the rubber pickup, should all be changed.

How do I turn the oiler up ? I'll get that pulled off Monday maybe as I'm going out for the weekend. I guess I'm wondering which direction increases flow as opposed to turning it down. If I pull that oiler will the o ring possibly be reusable or likely need a new one?
I have no dealer near me for husky so where could I order this rubber gasket / opting for the pump? Thanks gents
