I may not know much but I do know the husqvarna 61's that is the only saw my dad would run when we logged and built cabins in Alaska. We even milled with them. We have had every generation of them from the very first one without a chain brake to the last one when they quit selling them in the US. When I told dad the still make the 61 in Brazil he has been trying to figure out how to buy one get it back here. They are a good running saw in the legendary two series.

Kysawman You are correct in that the older white tops will not work with a 268 top end and a 503 59 92 05 muffler as the cover is 1/4 " shorter and the edge is turned down so it hits the side also. the top cover that I listed earlier is the only one I have found so far that clears. Do You know the part # for the smaller muffler as all the ones I see listed are the tall ones as are the AM ones,
Saw Troll thanks for all the GREAT information You provide also!

The shorter muffler is 501 52 15 05. That is the complete assembly. It is a three piece design. The later ones do mot come a part.

As far as I know, it was only the 268 (both closed and open port), 66, and 272 that had the highest angle spark plugs - but it may of course have varied before that as well?

Then, I don't really know if the 66 shared the case with the 266 or with the 268 - but suspect the 266...

Something I believe is true (but can't prove) is that both the 266xp and the 66 was made in Slovenia (at the Tomos/Koper factory) after a deal done in 1991 (after the breakup of Yugoslavia), and that the same factory had made the at least the 162SE (of that saw family) before that. Possibly the 61 as well, but I don't know when that started (and am not 100% sure it actually happened).
The same factory made a lot of other Husky models as well, after production in Sweden was discontinued, mostly before the breakup of Yugoslavia, but that's another story....

Very interesting, then I remembered seeing this and went and found it.
