That's funny I had a 310 and wasn't very impressed by it...traded it for a 262xp![emoji23]People just love them 290 Norse boat anchors, don't they? I would buy a 310 at the right price though. Much better saw. Than the 290... not the 262.

It had a muffler mod and timing advance. It was ok for what it was but I just wasn't impressed with it.Yah have to modify the mufflers on those 1127 clam shell Stihl saws to get any performance out of them. They were originally designed with a more open muffler, but got all choked up. You also have to swap in an 036 rim drive. I would trade a 310 for a 262 or a 360/361 any day. Night and day.
The 290 still commands a "premium" though... I saw one on Ebay for $700 after they were discontinued. I posted that one on one of these saw forums (I forget which one) and even El Moobs was impressed.

If Randy's old one wasn't sitting in my Barn now, I'd help you out. I just don't need two. Now a sexy, ported little 357xp? Sure.
