I may have an 036 trigger. Should work.
What do you recommend for this muffler? Bolt on a 036 muffler? Do I just need the muffler and heat shield or do I need a spacer?

Whats wrong with the muffler you have?

I'm not sure on the mufflers. Its an area of debate of what swaps with what and what needs a spacer or doesn't.

I have a good super muffler that id swap for an OEM 036 muffler.

Nothing wrong with it just didn't know the best thing to do. Does a guy just cut the center divider off? Or cut a hole in it? Then enlarge the opening or add a second port.

I think that the center in that is just fine to leave. 2 large openings at the end, one on each side? Or is it a baffle with many small holes?

Also do you recommend the 044 drum, sprocket and bearing upgrade?

You use a spacer if you're going to put on a 034/034 super cylinder cover. That way you won't have to hack up the cover. If not it wont fit with the muffler bolted to the heat sheild. If you're going to put on an 036 cover on an 036 cylinder you dont need the spacer.

I've had one 034 AV I used an 036 cylinder on .The problem is one the muffler needs spacers and two the top plastic doesn't fit real well .The second one which runs is a works in progress which I haven't had the time to do . It is a super 034 .I'll add a can of soup to it when I get the chance .

Now mufflers .Myself I completely gut them nothing left but the shell .Depending I might add a second port with a deflector I make from sheet metal and braze in place .They aren't that loud but then again I've ran plenty of 10 series Macs with gutted mufflers and they are loud . So it just depends on what person considers loud I guess .

Well did a base delete and muffler mod on this today. Still need to get a trigger and sprocket. I think I'll just do the 044 drum, bearing and sprocket. Still want to advance the timing. I am obviously wrong but I thought most of the 034 supers with ks cylinder had the tear drop thingy on the intake? Maybe I'm mistaken

That's an 036 jug. 034S different.

Oh gotcha thanks for clarifying. So do these 034 supers just have better timing than the 036s or how come they are better performing?

Timing, yes. Plus less-restrictive exhausts/carbs, etc. pre-epa Stihls that just run better than you think they should.

036--- also awesome but some had Stihl cylinders that were a bit rough. The only parts 034super I could find locally was absolutely beat--- original owner went through 3 top ends before the pto bearing spun in the case. We all said that saw died of old age (but parts of it still live on).

I think we are talking apple and oranges a bit here. I think I misunderstood you on the intake.

There's 3 1125 intake ports.

The 46mm non-super 34 has a tit dropping down off of the roof to retain the rings at BDC.

The 48mm 036/360 jugs have no tit and a central depression in the floor thats around 5* lower than the outermost sides. Sometimes referred to as an upside down teardrop shape.

The 48mm 034S apparently has neither, just a regular port. Even though I own 2 034S, I've only seen the ports in pics. Neither of mine have been touched.

So my front handle is bent I'm assuming I could put the plastic or metal handle right? If I found a plastic one would I need longer screws?
