18V Cordless Tools

I am looking at upgrading my mishmash collection of cordless tools and focus my efforts on one system. I know there are Milwaukee guys ans Makita guys hear and I want to hear their thoughts but any Bosch guys here?

A friend of mine who's family owns a tool and fastener company right away recommended the Bosch (they sell all 3) "They have the best features and warranty of all"

One thing I noticed is that the 1/4" impact is also a 1/2" socket driver within the same unit...

Milwaukee has a 5 year warranty and I’ve had to use it and they paid shipping both ways and it was only about 7 days from the time I shipped it to the time is was back and I received brand new tool. Not sure about the Bosch warranty but tough to beat the Milwaukee warranty.

I was looking at the 12v stuff from Hilti, I know you are looking at the 18v stuff but the price point was better for me and I dig the lighter weight of the 12v stuff.

hilti is the best on the market for what they make, and way more expensive than everything else...
my buddy is an electrican and has an old (8-10 years old) 14.4v 1/4" impact driver that is close to if not better than my new 18v millwaukee brushless impact driver
it will drive 1/2" lags like theyre a #8 screw, but it was close to $500 and my milwaukee around $200

What Shaun said above. Can’t go wrong with Makita, mine worked hard for 10years. Tough to change platforms if you need more than a couple tools. But I just switched to Milwaukee and I’m very happy with it. They have some tools for mechanical contractors that others don’t is why I switched. They all are coming out with new tools like crazy now. Battery tech is getting exciting!

i think the Li battery technology was still new when i priced that which is why it was close to $500, they also dont offer that model anymore, and it looks like the tools have been cheapened up a bit?

The ones I was looking at are made in China but the materials used are of the highest quality from what I've read.

I agree, I have three big air wrenches in the shop, and this thing will out do them all. I did not believe it until I decided to spend the money on it. And I take it with me without air. ( well worth the money! )

Gary, one of the things I looked for when buying my Makita stuff a couple of years ago was the battery charging. I wanted a quick charger that could charge two batteries at once.

Also, I wanted the cases that are stackable and connect for easy transport. I have some Festo stuff with cases, which Makita cases were compatible with. It made sense for me to go with Makita.

I've always loved the Milwaukee also, but for the price, the Makita packages fit me better.

The best part after getting your initial setup with batteries/charger, you can add tool only to your lineup for a lot cheaper than with batteries.

I now have 4 of the 9.0 batteries and my neighbor got 2 of the 12.0 batteries and let me tell you about those batteries. He was cutting up some small branches with his sawzall with the 12.0 and the saw felt like it was a corded saw. I can use one 9.0 and normally drill out an entire house on one battery and that is drilling holes from 1.5 inches to over 4 inches.

Yes but it’s actually the super hawg . I bought it when Home Depot had them on close out and the only time we run the generator now is if we have to air test or I Foyt charge the batteries at home. I have a 6 way charger so by morning they are all ready for the day

I don’t remember what specials are going on right now but if I don’t buy from my wholesaler I only buy when I get free stuff. This summer I bought the string trimmer as I got a free tool and went with the hedge trimmer

Looks like I am going Makita. I have been talking with Nate and there are some really good deals at the Paul Bunyan show this weekend that he is going to honor for me.
