Ok! I've got an 066 that was in a parts buy. The bearings feel good and over all the saw should clean up nicely, the connecting rod shows some bluing from when it was roached, but the lower end bearing is tight and doesn't show any heating or damage. My question is how many would use it and how many feel it should be replaced? I for one have no problem with it but would like to hear back from the pros, thanks!

The bearings (crankcase) and lower bearing have zero play and are smooth in all positions.

case looks very "dry" to me. I would split it and replace the bearings and seals if it were mine. I've had a few bearings that "felt" fine when in the case and real crappy once out. I would re-use the crank after a good visual ( after the split)
best of luck either way.

If I was to go through the trouble of splitting cases and replacing bearings, I’d replace the crank as well.
If it felt good, wasn’t too expensive, and is for personal use, I’d run it as is.

I would carefully check crank rotation, slowly, with the rod being held up by a rubber band, or a helping hand.

If its still silky smoothe, and it was my saw ........... I'd run 32:1 and run the saw untill the cows come home, unless milling or stumping, then I'd run 24:1

I have a few 066/660 with blued rods and rebuild a many of them blued and have not had any problems with them. As long as there is no up and down play in the bearing. I say as others have said already run it.

I guess that another good question is a couple of lower fins missing?

This one was blued also. Don’t really know if it was from the bearing failure or from factory heat induction You can see where the rod bearing started coming out between rob and crank half’s And this was an 066 btw16144595-CC1A-42E1-B7BC-F26A914E1B08.jpeg39302DD2-9696-4017-B836-34BA737EE2A3.jpeg

Catch 22, I don't like to see a saw look like that, but like the post.
Yeah. Believe it or not this saw still wanted to try and run when the owner would try and start it the day he brought it to me

Looks like you could get another cord or two out of it.
