Thanks, that makes sense. I have a new oem 12mm cylinder (with decompression hole) that I want to use on this saw until I can find a slant fin.

A year ago I could’ve helped you out. I had 9 10mm/12mm slantfin cylinders that got ported or sold.

Lol, story of my life: a day late and a dollar short.

This will get me going while I search for a good slant fin. I have a 12mm Arctic that is next on the bench. I am looking for a 3rd 044 project for a hybrid, then I'll have a complete set. :)

Using a 12mm cylinder on a 10mm saw can be a recipe for disaster actually. With the locating pin position on the OEM 10mm piston and some slight port changes in the 12mm jug, the end gap can fall into a port.

Obviously if your cylinder came from a 10mm it's not an issue, but just wanted to point out that it's not as simple as the only difference being the piston.
How do you tell if the slant fin came from a 10 or 12?

@Gary Courtney

To the best of my knowledge, the cylinders on the earliest 12mm saws with the slant find are compatible either way. The ones you don't dare use on a 10mm saw are the later straight fin cylinders.
