Nice saws! Which is your pick and why? Thanks
I wish I knew...they all apply to me on different levels. I appreciate the AV and power of the new and I love the rawness of the older designs. I bought the 562 last week. Last night I added some cooling cut outs to the cover and started to muff mod it. I’ve only made a few test cuts.

The Domlar I’ve had since December. It’s muffler modded. It’s strong but again, I don’t have enough run time on it with the temp being pretty miserable around here the majority of the time I’ve owned it.

The mofo 036 runs real strong and is picking up with each use. It’s not fully broken in yet, but since I made a mesh, 100 micro filter for it it’s breathing better (still no match for my 034Super though)

The Dolmar is physically the largest, and weighs the most especially when all filled up with fluids. It’s not that much heavier though than the 036 that it would bother me. The 036 is the worse for AV obviously, but it rips. The 6100 has the best capacity and best airfilter by far.

I was able to cut with all in the same frozen wood. I was able to stall the 562 leaning on it a little. The other two would not. However, the 562 was bone stock with the flocked filter. It also was the only one wearing a 24” bar with a sharp looking, but unknown chain that came with the saw. The saw is low hour used. The 6100 is impressive. It’s strong. Running the mofo with the oem flocked filter, the 6100 wasn’t too far behind. With the high flow, the gap is much further. The mofo needs to breath.

A stock 036 is behind both power wise and AV. It should be, it’s a decades old design.

I ordered a bar adapter from @Homelite410 so I can use a 20” and the same chain for saws. That will be a more fair comparison. 562xp vs 6100. Both muff modded. I’m curious
The 562 wakes up pretty good with just a MM but u will need Id say 8 to 10 tanks through it for the Autotune to learn

A chain can make or break a saws performance. I don’t bother comparing saws unless they have same bar/sprocket/chain. Same bar is just as important as chain and sprocket as well because bars can affect cut speed if one has burs on rails/slightly bent or something along those lines. Clogged filter and bad tune can restrict them too. So many variables.

That's why a majority of saw videos don't mean sh!t.

I could care less which saw cuts a tick faster than the other anyway.

I agree it's fairer to run the same b&c as opposed to some random different combo on each saw but...

What if the particular power band of one saw, in combination with the style of the operator, favors a more/less aggressive chain or different rim size?

Wouldn't it be more telling to let each saw run what it's fastest with?

But of course then you don't know if you really did find the fastest combo on any given saw.

It's all very subjective...

I agree. Run whats the fastest on each setup

Funny I finished that today too. It is louder for sure, but not obnoxious. It wasn’t able to run it long enough to see a difference. image.jpgI opened it up under the deflector in two places like @huskyboy did and sprayed it with some stove paint.

I have to say, I do really like how easily they start.

Nobody will ever see the inside of mine. Let's just say i was out of dremel cut off wheels so i opted for a screwdriver, pliers, drill, and hammer.

Yes, I cut the deflector and bent it back on the last one I did for a 2252. I then was able to neatly trim everything and weld the sides back. I didn’t want to go through that much effort so I just used a nice long carbide cutter and it turned out nearly as well.
