I think these two guys will be able to help you Jake

Iirc they put a generous coating of some sort of tire gel on the plastics and lets them sit for a day or so and then wipe the gel off

Jake,

Try simple green and see what happens.

Purple power removes stains very well, but it unfortunately also removes any luster the covers have to them. It will also remove the writing on the metal badge, so be careful.

Applying Meguair's tire get after purple power will give the saw a nice Matt sheen after purple power.

I haven't tried clear coat after purple power yet, but I bet it works.

simple green is mild and should work well i will try it when i get my saw back from scott.
i got a few cans of specialty plastic paint its Husqvarna orange so the color match should be close.

I tried the Valspar paint everyone says is great and it wasn't so great.

Krylon makes "Fusion" plastic spray paint that comes in an orange that's a good match.

Floods penitrol from the paint section at home depot. It is by far the best thing I've ever used on plastics and rubber.

This is Rust-oleum 2x ultra cover semi gloss after purple power totally took off the gloss. It looks good, but I'll be careful not to spill gas on it IMG_4476.JPG

I tried wet sanding, buffing compound, etc and wasn't happy with it. Thought I'd try this.

WD40 works very well for a sheen.
As far as cleaning the stains.....some of them are penetrated into the plastic and will not come out.

I second the Krylon Fusion paint.
The Implement paint from TSC is a spot on match and seems to be semi fuel resistant

That's what I did on the photos I posted of the 024 plastic. The plastic was stained in a few places and I was able to "lessen" them. It was very dull prior to the semi gloss clear.
