For reference, I sharpen ours with a standard metal grinding wheel on an angle grinder and it doesn't take too much too fast. When at home I sharpen blades with the coarse wheel on the bench grinder. Sharpening mower blades with a flap wheel would try my patience. Maybe finish with one.

Can't help you with picking a color. Just make your best guess off Rit's color chart. The dyeing part is simple. Clean the parts well with soap and water. Warm an adequate sized pot of water to about 150 F. Add half the bottle of dye and drop the parts in.
You said recoil cover and I read air filter. It's the only NOS part in the build. I gave in after months of looking/waiting and spent the big bucks for it. Got a good used one now that matches the condition of the case but isn't complete. I could be persuaded to trade my NOS cover for your...
This was my first time with dye and I went a shade dark thinking it would turn out lighter. It didn't.
The filter cover is a Duke's. I've got an OEM filter and cover setup that I'd rather go with. Not a fan of the hotrod look.
