The epoxy is a real headache. I use tiny screw drivers and pics. Time consuming, much easier and faster to replace. That is a side project just for enjoyment, not if ya want to get her repaired.

Yes sir, not every time is it the capacitor, but a majority has been my experience. Definitely worth investigating. I have never personally worked on this specific module, but have tested many others and the capacitor has been faulty on several occasions.

Generally, the magnets won't usually fail or lose magnetism. Usually, the flywheel hits and damages them. I have seen them lose magnetism, but, not often.

Pull cover, put compass near magnets. One should point north, one south. 180 degrees apart.

I would drain tank and clean carb first. Use non-ethanol fuel in mix. Get rid of old fuel in can first Boss. Remember to check fuel lines, impulse line, intake boot, and primer for leaks. (If it has primer bulb)
