I don't know if you can hear if it is a steady idle or a surging one like if it's running out of fuel. Surging would indicate an air leak in the fuel system.
I think more power = more heat, but I've never verified stock vs ported cyl & muff temps. Just mill in cool weather.
Too rich will also put more heat in the muffler, which can radiate into other parts of the saw.
I've smashed the AM with success, just have to go easy as to not strip/slip it.
What happened to right to repair? Tractor owners need access to software, and we need access to a simple tool of basic maintenance that used to be included in the manual.
Why not just solder some thin squares of sheet metal (copper or something) on there to patch those contacts? Add a new cell, and you have 2 trimmers now. Easy fix in my opinion, I thought I was going to see you fix it.
I think it's stupid they use rubber there when other carbs appear to use fiberglass resin or something like that. I've had it happen to mine, a friend had it happen to his, and another I know has replaced carbs several times. I almost blew the valve out once using carb cleaner.
The 590 commonly develops a lean idle issue that can extend a good way up in the throttle range. It's just an inconvenience, but to fix it, either get a new carb, or replace the main nozzle. This might not be the problem you are having.
