Absolutely the fuel has an effect. I make gasoline for a living. The recipe for the soup that we call gasoline changes by the hour...

Different oils combustion differently and require different tuning.

Seems epoxy in place. Haven't dug into it to deep. The conductor is fine so I just taped it up. I think I'll do a more permanent repair...
