Yes always some silly little thing like that will cause a problem. Like a lot of people will bring a saw to me and say I have tried everything to new plug checked carby but forgot to check if they have spark or not. First thing I do is pull the stop switch wire of the coil and bang away we go. I...

STIHL trimmer dies when letting go of the trigger

Long as it is running well under power it sounds to me that you may have to tweak the idling screw up a bit till it keeps running when you let the trigger go. If that does not fix it then it may be your jets. If you have not played with them before be careful you don't get it to lean or you may...

    HELP! 357xp Metering Needle/Flooding Issues

You will have to pressure test the carb with a mityvac or something similar. If the needle is lecking and cannot be fixed sounds like a new carb. Get a magnifying glass and check the needle has not got a nibble out of the rubber point.

    Reinstalling clutch

What are we talking here Clutch or Flywheel as you stated at the start it looks like clutch. Either one I just take them up with a rattle gun but in saying that have had one come off and is not pleasant spending half a day looking for all the bits. So yes put the cover back on for safety reasons.

Put it on a carb and it told me it was still leaking but it wasn't the carb it was the tester so out...

HELP! Chinese clone chainsaws - worth the hassle ?

The saying is you get what you pay for. If I never had enough money to buy a Stihl, Husky or Echo I would wait till I did. Not a fan of them. Had to many in my shed to repair after a couple of months work. So now if someone brings them in unless its an easy fix tell them go buy a Husky or Stihl.
