    What's on your bench?

On the bench today? A 1971 Allis Chalmers HD 11E. Been sitting for about 20 years; was on the property when the guy bought it and he doesn't have any history. It's roached, and I really have no interest in putting it on a lowboy and taking it home, but I am going to try to get it running...

    What's on your bench?

Carburetors. A local shop was closing down and they were selling the carburetors they had collected over the years. I ended up with 44 of them. Some Holley, about 10 Edelbrock - mostly 1406 600 cfm, a bunch of Quadrajets (including one from a 1968 396/427), some Solex, some Weber, Autolite 2...

So what did you do today?

More work on the cage for the '72 Javelin 24 Hours of Lemons race car. Welded the tops, then painted it, put it back on the boxes, welded the boxes, welded the cage to the boxes.

    What's on your bench?

Melted 15-50 outlet for the Long Haired General's plug in hybrid. After I removed, disassembled, and diagnosed the problem (the the help of some smart sparky's) the company that did the install a year ago came back and fixed it using a Bryant (made in 'Murica) outlet that I purchased. I also...

    Mildly porting a 026

I'd definitely do a muffler mod - gut or drill out the baffle and add another port. From there, I'd do a base gasket delete or use a thinner gasket. Having said that, I've built and tweaked an 026 before, and I'm thinking @lehman live edge slab is right about not being room for a BG delete...

    What's on your bench?

About 1/2 MOA if the shooter (i.e., me) doesn't dork something up.

    What's on your bench?

Yes. It's a RemAge style barrel, so it has a barrel nut.

    What's on your bench?

Nothing sexy; just .308. Has a Timney trigger, 22" Faxon RemAge MTU profile barrel, MDT field stock, Vortex 6x24. I'd like to upgrade to an aftermarket receiver; that's the only factory part of the rifle now. Since I kept all the other parts, I can reassemble those and have my original .308...

    What's on your bench?

    Remington 700 that I've customized a bit; today I added a suppressor.

50 Vintage 4bbl Carbs for $500 - Trash or Treasure?

Probably around $100 if it's in good condition, not missing any parts, and nothing is frozen. Could be worth significantly more if it's the right casting # for a high performance application. If someone took a Pontiac Ram Air III or Ram Air IV carb and put it on the Chevelle, then you have a...

50 Vintage 4bbl Carbs for $500 - Trash or Treasure?

I will gain significant hp and torque and lose some weight by ditching a 2bbl for a 4bbl and decent dual plane aluminum intake. A Holley Truck Avenger is what I'll probably end up with. Basically a 4160 tweaked to allow for smooth running/better performance on uneven ground.
