This is the mechanic in me.... bigger rattle gun would likely get it too (assuming the OP hasnt hit it with a snapon mg725 or the like yet🤣) them things will loosen just about anything...i have had a few stihls in my day that needed the 725 to get the clutches off as well... I almost find it...

My anecdotal evidence is that a bark box style muffler did help my 661 breathe better, and therefore has more oomph in the cut, however, thats all anecdotal evidence, and thats on a ported 661, not stock, and testing was not done back to back, on the same log, same day type of scenario... also...

Not at the .0125 squish.... i do my squish checks with no rings in, as it makes putting the jug on multiple times way easier, and eliminates the drag of the rings that likely would have masked the piston bottoming out on the case. Because i am still new to building saws and dont need every last...

I Think its that high due to being a big bore with a pop up piston.... with .020 squish i have no doubt it would have as much or more compression than my .0195 squish ms661 with around 220psi... only saw i own that i use the decomp on... 🤣 its got enough snap it can close the decomp just from...

I would prefer a tighter squish, but that comes at the expense of more freeport.... it seems to run and start well at 050 squish so its staying there for now LOL

I am thinking no, as i already had to trim the intake side skirt a few thou to clear the case....was hitting at bdc.... i could have trimmed the case, but didnt want to have to flush the bearings again....LOL

This is the first startup tank after warming up.... for having about .050 squish to minimize (got it down to about .010") free port at tdc, it runs pretty snotty..... would love to have a way to get the squish AND the freeport down.....🤣 could be a real beast then.....timing is pretty close to...

Its a combo of spring power and inertia... doesnt supprise me one bit... add in a hamfisted operator yanking it like a large saw and twists will happen....

Hmmm..... .now that i have moved to TN, i might have to make this happen next year..... trying to get there from NY wouldnt be feasible, but just moved to the outskirts of kingsport, and its only 3 hrs away.....😁

Unfortunately i am no longer at a stihl shop, just recently moved from upstate NY to eastern TN, and am now at an echo shop... no more access to stihl lookups.

Also side note, did work....LOL moved from upstate ny to eastern TN a few weeks ago, and am now at an echo/shindiawa shop....they are who was hiring, and aside from having to work on more echos, i am not complaining 🤣🤣🤣
