You know,I really don't like using channel lock type pliers. Seems like by the time you're reaching for them its turning into a bad day.
lol, You sayin that things have been stripped too bad for a wrench and need pliers to break it loose,

I'm with ya. I got about 6 pair and can't remember when I used one last. Always seems like vise grips or a pipe wrench is a better choice

that big pair is a lot easier to sling around than a 4' pipe wrench until/unless you need the pipe wrench...

Yeah, you really can't get that good of hold with them. Unless you got a grip like King Kong

ive never really had that problem...especially with the big ones...I even put pipe on the top handle (bottom jaw) as you only need one and they don't slip!
the curved or V jaws are definitely an improvement over the old straight jaws...

channellock is the only channel lock type pliers I like...

I am another Knipex user ,they grip way better than anything out there ,of course i get them off the snap-on truck .
I threw all my channel lock brand away after used the knipex .They are fairly pricey but they work .

I went to a tool auction today and bagged a 26 piece jumbo socket set for $90. It's got 16 - 3/4" drive sockets from 15/16" to 2" and 3 - 1" sockets 2.25, 2.5 and 2.75". It's made in China but so is everything else affordable in this size range. You can get one just like this on Amazon for $250 shipped. I think it's a good deal. IMG_20160507_175936153.jpg

I have an old set of curved jaw Channel Locs. I have run miles of black and galvanized pipe with them. I always carry pipe wrenches when I am doing plumbing, but the Channel Locs get used way more. No need to squeeze just put them on the correct way and either pull or push on the top handle.

I just thought about it, Crescent didn't ever send me a box to send that POS ratcheting wrench back in. Forgot all about it. guess the Chinese company ain't so good after all.
