Picked up an 05 372 last week, starts & runs great but seemed a little lackluster.
Put the tach on it, 12800,we can do better than that, got it to 13200, won't go higher, threw a different carb on, same thing, OK, what color is the coil? Sure nuff, it's blue 13300, my first limited coil.
Next I checked compression 130, kinda low.
Today I pulled the top off to see if it had 1.2 or 1.5 millimeter thick rings,I've been bit by this before, they were 1.2, the ring gap was .020 just above the intake port, time for new rings.
Piston has wear, but is good, cyl. is perfectly good. The rings have slight Mark's on the edges that I can catch a nail on, there are no corresponding Mark's in the cyl.
Well, I gotta go order some rings, here's pics of the top ring, I've not seen those letters on a ring before, but then I have't seen that many rings.
