Just added a little to my pile last night. Got more to add that's in the basement already. Just about full for winter.

When do you usually start filling the basement? Do you keep at it a bit at a time or fill in the fall? Looks like a nice mess of wood there, bud!!!!!

I do a little of both. If I score something and it's ready for the basement, it goes in. Otherwise it sits outside till fall and then gets moved in. Now that I have a good splitter that just works, I'm able to get a tree or two or three ahead for the next year. I got at least 3 lined up for next year already. If I get done early this year, I'll get it cut and split, then just go out with the trailer next year and haul it in.

I potentially have scored more ground this year. Farmer wants some dropped that's over hanging his fields. I need to talk to him about it and tell him I'm interested. A good problem to have.....too much land to cut on. :)

Went up to my Dad's this weekend to split the wood he had ready to split. Put about 10 hours on the splitter this weekend, but split quite a bit of wood. He said he had enough to keep my busy and didn't think I'd get it all done. This is what he sent that he had ready.

Did about 5 hours on Friday and 5 hours yesterday. Did the first pile and 75% of the second pile on Friday. Then on Saturday, finished the second pile, he had 2 logs that were in the yard that he drug over and I cut up. That stuff was nice and straight, I put the 6 way on and then the wood started flying off the splitter. It was enough to keep 4 people busy and moving. The second wagon, I timed it, took 50 minutes.....and that's with waiting for a new trailer to put wood into.

This is what ended after we were done.

Three dump truck loads delivered and re-stacked(not very well) by me and a track loader. Should be a big dent in next years firewood. Big one out in front is up to my belly button, should be fun bucking that one up. Not sure if any will get cut now or wait till spring.
