If doing a noodle, quite possible the Square skip. Regular crosscut - racy round!

skip chain is for underpowered huskies and lazy operators who cant sharpen lol
but...but...I made a 3/8p skip chain (took all the links apart and put them back together as skip - I think it was 31 drivers) for an 8" Milwaukee bar that I put on a MS 170...I don't think that falls under "underpowered huskies and lazy operators"...:D

Round! The little girls on a fourm that I used to belong to :sisi2: doubted my ability to do anything, including sharpening a chain. I get a better-than-factory edge using my Amish USG as pictured:

Once upon a time, there were a few “chain build race offs” where a bunch of savvy dudes put their best square forward.

IIRC, skip took second overall

I still have that chain hanging on a nail

Ask anyone who uses one of these devices how good it is. I love this filing unit. It is about 4-5 pounds of solid steel with one or two brass and plastic bushings all made in Germany.

IMHO, that tool is good for a beginner to learn the angles and depth. After understanding HOW to sharpen, you should be able to freehand file it just the same, and much faster.
