Chrome rings would probably be more suitable in a cast bore but the cabers will be better than what you have now.
Do You know any on-line source that will ship to Europe where I could purchase Chrome rings?

The machine , it is a mower, worked fine for days and then suddenly lost power.
It could no longer run the "small" mowing bar, while it ran the "large" bar perfectly fine before.
It is a nice old school machine that my sister found and gifted to my dad because he had so much issues with his larger mower which is powered by a 4-stroke 300cc Lombardini LA300 engine.

I do not. They will likely be difficult to find with most everything two stroke being nickel or chrome lined bores nowadays.

I had a two stroke dirt bike sleeved with a cast sleeve and installed oem rings designed for the original nikasil bore. It worked fine but wore out more quickly than the plated bore.

Picked up a Husqy 240e; needed fuel lines and primer bulb. Someone robbed the muffler, sprocket cover and top cover off of it.

Someone gave me an older all plastic Homelite. Pretty sure the crank seals are bad. It has an odd bar on it; no oiler holes. WTF???

I believe they oil through the adjuster holes

Still have the MS170 and 024 on my bench. Why aren't they done.?

Ordered a oem old style fuel line for the 024, and a farmer tec flywheel puller.
They came in and I was ready to finish the saw.

Walked out my front door, took one step, and next thing I know I'm at the bottom of the steps.
Lucky it's only two steps, but they are brick.
My back hit the brick steps pretty hard, so I can't do a whole lot till it heals.

In the meantime I ordered a part for my MS170.
It came in and I put it on.Below is a before and after pic. Cheap mod but worth doing.

Might need to add a link to all of the chains that you run on that MS170

I ran .325 and 3/8 on mine. It did ok with 3/8” on 16” bar. (Muffler mod, very mild woods port, Walbro 194, slight timimg bump). I don’t remember the actual part number for the 3/8 bar, but it was not easy to find. Went back to .325 on 18” bar which it seemed to like before I gave it to my dad.

The 18” combo was a house brand from Bailey’s, TimberlinePro or something like that.

My dad is checking one of his machines, starts, idles, takes high idle, but is low on power - powered by a Sachs Stamo 96 2-stroke engine, 1cylinder, 90 cc.
Cast iron cylinder, aluminum cylinder head, no gasket, no signs of leakage, closed port fed.

I told him he need new piston rings, he wants to reassemble the engine as is.

Lots of blow by.

The cylinder bore looks impeccable, the smearing is how my dad checked for ring wear.
He smeared grease into the bore and rotated the crank so the piston goes once up and down - shows where the rings touch the bore and where they don't.

Now, I have a question.
Given that the cylinder is iron not aluminum, can I still go ahead and place regular Caber piston rings in this engine?
I came up with 52mmx2.0mm and the Greek on eBay has these listed.
Do I have to pay attention to anything else than ring diameter and width?

Any help, opinions and suggestions are appreciated, thank You!

Ebay Germany you can find spare pistons.

My carb project is on hold...
top is 346 shaft
234 shaft
242 shaft

When I cut out for the accelerator pump, there won't be any meat left in a 242 shaft, nor will it be in a 234 shaft, both of them has more wide cut for the butterfly compared against the 346 shaft.
The way I see it, gotta get that throttle shaft custom made ;)

52.5mm over bore is what I found, would need cylinder honing - dad won't do that because the cylinder looks very good.

I purchased Caber piston rings yesterday, they got shipped today.
We'll see how they'll turn out in this engine.

Nice! Looks pretty good still...

We finished fourth in our den...
Top three were in the top five of the whole pack...

They "bought" their cars.... Wheels, axles, tungsten dome weights... right down to the pre-cut block cars...
Private school with some very well to do folks...

My son and I spent time together working on it, the way it was meant to be!!
(Except a bunch of time polishing axles!!!)
