I also really like them with the 20" E bar, the ES bar is much heavier and really changes the balance of the saw.

Last I checked the E bars were only $45.

Add a little muffler mod and timing advance and you will likely think it runs like a ported saw!

Yes I have plans on doing both mm and time advance. Do you have and suggestions on home much timing to put on it. I will be getting a different bar for it that one is tweaked

I'm a bit conservative, I take .020 off the key, others do .025 or .030.

.020 = approx. 5-6*.

Just make sure the crank surface and flywheel surface are very clean, and make that nut tight. I like to use a little brake cleaner, then Scotchbrite on the surfaces. Just don't get the cleaner on the seal.

I'll have to try it

Cleaning hydro fluid off my bench.
Put a new pump and cylinder on an old Duerr 20 ton logsplitter.
The 1" holes for the pin on the cylinder were worn into 2 1/4" long slots.
The frame and tank are in very good shape and a 2 yr. old motor make it a good choice for a rebuild.
The thing will split anything in the yard now and do it fast.

With such good luck and ease of this operation i cleaned up the tools, welder and junk parts then called it a good afternoon and quit work.
End the day on a good note cause tomorrow the headaches begin all over again.

I got a silly question, if you just wanted to run Stihl bars, will Stihl studs fit in there, or are the thread larger?

I like putting Stihl 460 studs in 660s and 046s because the boss for the bars are larger. Chain covers have to be swapped or modded, easy to do.

Husqvarna studs are pressed in, no threads.

Got a call from the guy I rebuilt the Husqy 394 for; he ripped the recoil assembly off the saw and has a big job this weekend. What are the chances of me finding a 394 recoil and having it in my hands by Friday?

Hahaha! WTF.

Call Bob at Ashokan turf and timber. 395 recoil is the same and he might be able to have you one by Friday.

You serious? I was being a bit of a smartass as other than overnighting one it didn’t seem probable. I was just going to lend him the 038 to use
