I recently bought several old NOS McCulloch bars, PN 65273 and 65274. They are marked as “Slimline” bars, 24” and 28” long. The pattern is correct to fit the Mac 660 I have but it is the wrong gage (measures .062”, too small for a .404 chain?).

On the 660 the studs are .365” (9.24mm) in diameter and the slot width in the bar is .384” (9.74mm). The closest bar pattern that I can find is a D024 which has a 10mm slot width but it doesn’t look like the oil passages line up.

Long story short I’m trying to determine what is the correct mount size so I can find a bar to fit this beauty. Any help would be greatly appreciated!2A4CC214-F734-4615-B97E-CC52E542801B.jpeg E56A58C9-A647-4604-B136-B1910FEF9A88.jpeg 94ACF72B-89E4-4E8D-A0BB-0B9F4E49B7CA.jpeg

I may be incorrect but I believe the slimline bars are for the 10-10 series saws. The 660 uses the larger super 250/ 125/797 pattern. 3/8 studs and 063 gauge .404 are standard for it. That is what mine wears.

It will mount up perfectly, it just isn’t the correct gage.

Is it not .404” 0.063”?

The slimline bar mounts up no problem but is too narrow for an .063” chain (only measures .o62” wide). The fleabay bar is a .404 .063” bar but the mount is a medium frame mount; I need a large frame mount.

That "Slimline" is correct for the large frame McCulloch saws. This one has the same tail and is, in fact, a sprocket nose to fit the peculiar Auto Mac self sharpening chain.

The screen covers the oiler hole, there is actually a channel going down the length of the bar and lubes the chain at the nose.

The E-Bay bar you reference is for the 10 Series models, 15-20 minutes with a file and it would fit your 3/8" studs but there are other options.

Thanks Mark, I had no idea of what the term slimline revered to and made an in correct assumption. Lessons, always more to learn.

I’m going to buy one of those bars; if the one in the link is the one you bought, & it doesn’t work for you, I’ll take it if you want to sell it.

Please Let Me Know.

Modified it to fit, sorry
