Jealous beyond words right now. Why o why did they have to quit making saws. I want both of em!

Because Makita wants to be utterly irrelevant in the OPE market. I still have never encountered a dealer that sells their electric OPE, for that matter I only knew of one dealer that kept selling the Makita gas engine line after they buried Dolmar.

It's sad. They had some great innovation. German engineering at It's finest. Great saws!

Tease fitting my CSM on my full wrap Dolmar PS-9010 with 36" Iggesund Forest bar.
I will get a longer dedicated milling bar and utilize my "secondary" PS-9010 that has been sitting neglected ever since I purchased her used and abused - she needs some TLC first though, required parts are ready.

I will be needing some help regarding milling, it is a novelty for me!

First thing I would do is drill a hole in the mill so you can turn the chain adjuster with a screw driver lol. Then the rest is pretty easy go slow keep the chain sharp

Greetings guys
I have just acquired a blue, German manufacture 3400 and looking forward to playing with it. Any tips will be appreciated.
I'm new here so I will be wading through the previous 355 pages. Maybe I'll be all caught up by then. 😝
Welcome to the forum. :beer-toast1:

First rule, pictures or it didn't happen!
We will require pictures of that teal 3400 of Yours.

Here is my red PS-3400

That thing has a strong resemblance to the Echo Cs-300/340 series. I wonder if there is any connection there?

I own a CS3400 & CS340. I think you are right! Those are Echos! No primer bulb is main difference I can pick up on.

Brake flag is different as well.

Nah, there not Echo's. There's some similar things. But definitely not the same.

One big thing. Echo's aren't made in Germany. The Dolmar PS-3400 is.

I owned a Toyota that was Made In USA.

If the PS3400 is a reed valve, the engine was made by Kioritz. If it has an Echo engine, it's an Echo saw.

I bet, they've been making vehicle here in the USA since the 80s.

Now you make me want to get them both side by side and tear them down and inspect em.... That could be very interesting.

I always thought Echo and Kioritz were the same thing.

The PS-3400 and its successor PS-3410 were designed and built by Dolmar in Hamburg although
the saw looks like a copycat-design of the Echo CS-340 series.
The predessor model Dolmar PS-3300 was built by Tanaka, Japan.

This particular iteration must be the 'CZ75' of top handle saws. Many different flavors, all originating from one design.
