if everything else is 100% on a stihl 4-mix engine,
what would the symptoms be if
1. too much valve lash on just the intake valve?
2. too much valve lash on just the exhaust valve?
3. too much valve lash on both valves?

Generally speaking the most noticable effect is increased noise from the valve train. The effective valve timing is shortened but usually you don't notice that. If the slop is so much that a rocker slips out of position or a lash cap falls out, the engine either stops or runs poorly with a lot of noise.
