Trying to piece together an 044 that I picked up. It needed bearings and was missing the carb, airfilter mount and filter, and cover.
So if figured it was just as easy and cost effective to go with a max flow. The last piece I need is the airfilter mount. It is the newer version of the 044 and my question is, is the rubber gasket needed for the max flow. I am just not sure if it would make difference as the filter material would seal against plastic or rubber if the gasket was present. Anybody have any experience with this?

No need for gasket if you wanna run maxflo or hd2. Its for the old style kufner filter.

I was under the impression that if the filter has its own seal (like the HD2) then the rubber should be removed. I haven't used a Maxflo so I can't say whether it has that seal on it or not.
